Anne founded Kindle Entertainment with Melanie Stokes in 2007. Previously, Anne worked at Thames TV and BBC Education, Executive Producer on television ranging from Teletubbies to Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. As Controller of Granada Kids in 2004, Anne led a thriving production department, with credits including over 100 episodes of the multi-award winning My Parents Are Aliens.

Anne lives in London with her family and a number of mice, but she is hoping they (the mice) will move out soon.

Melanie Stokes

Director

Melanie's first job in TV was as a researcher for Thames TV but since then she has nearly always worked in the indy sector, producing and directing a diverse portfolio of award-winning children’s drama, comedy and factual series for ITV and Channel 4. Bill’s New Frock adapted by Andrew Davies won the RTS and Broadcast Awards for Best Children’s Drama in 1998.

Melanie briefly returned to ITV where she worked with Anne as the head of development for Granada Kids. Here, she oversaw a number of successful commissions but when the opportunity arose to set up Kindle Entertainment with Anne and get back to the indy sector, Melanie seized it. Their partnership is founded on a shared passion for producing stories that stand out from the crowd and make you want to go back for more.

Valerie Ames

With more years experience in the television industry than she cares to remember, Val Ames has covered children’s, animation, sport, factual, entertainment and drama for both indies and broadcasters alike.

She has also been Head of Production at Mentorn Films and Head of Production for Children’s and International at Carlton TV.

Lance Crossey

Director of Finance

Lance had his first encounter with Television Production Accounting whilst studying for his Accounting and Finance degree. He has now worked in the industry for seventeen years, eleven of which were at ITV, where he looked after productions spanning the Pre-school, Factual, and Drama genres. This is also where he first met and worked alongside Anne and Mel.

Lance has been at Kindle from the beginning, overseeing all of the company’s finances.

Maureen Walker

Business Affairs Consultant

Maureen has worked in production business affairs for over 25 years. She began in business affairs roles before becoming Head of Artists and Music Management at ITV. She met Anne through her involvement in the ITV children’s department. Maureen also does consultancy work with indies, and has provided business affairs support to Kindle since 2009.

She is a member of the Royal Television Society North committee and a board member of The Television Workshop.

Pia Ashberry

Head of Development

Pia started her career as one half of comedy double act Raging Hormones. While she might never scale such dizzying heights again, she did go on to work for the Royal Court Theatre, where she read a lot of plays and even wrote one herself. She has since worked as a script editor, development executive, and writer for the BBC, Carlton, LWT, Talkback Thames, and Parallel Films.

Pia joined Kindle Entertainment as a script-editor and worked on all 4 series of My Spy Family; since running the development slate, she developed the pilot script for Hank Zipzer, developed and script-edited the single film Some Dogs Bite and wrote its interactive online dramas; and created the award-winning action adventure show, Leonardo.

Annie Harrison-Baxter

Drama Development

Annie worked extensively in theatre, film and television production before being given the opportunity to produce the first series of the BAFTA-winning drama Clocking Off.

Annie went on to work as an originating producer on a range of popular, multi-award winning drama series for both BBC & ITV such as The Cops, Bob & Rose, The Second Coming, Conviction, Wild at Heart, and more recently The Secret of Crickley Hall and the 2014 BAFTA-winning In The Flesh.

In addition to her producing career, Annie has worked as an Executive Producer for Shed Productions and BBC in-house Drama. She has also been a Commissioning Editor at Sky, where she first met Anne and Mel when collaborating on Kindle’s production of Treasure Island.

Siobhan Bachman

Comedy Development

Siobhan started out as an agent before joining BBC Comedy Casting in 2002. Siobhan then joined Tiger Aspect’s Comedy Department, developing and producing Mount Pleasant, now in its fourth series and still Sky’s most well-loved show.

Last year Siobhan was the lead producer of Kindle’s Hank Zipzer. She so enjoyed working with Kindle Entertainment that she stayed to develop the company’s comedy slate. She is now working on a number of projects across UK broadcasters.

Sheena Bucktowonsing

Children's Development

Sheena graduated with a degree in English Literature from Cardiff University in 2007. She worked in press and media relations for the Barbican Theatre before joining Soho Theatre’s Writers’ Centre. Two years later Sheena joined the Script Factory, an international training and development organisation for filmmakers and screenwriters. While at the Script Factory she gained a diploma in Script Development from the NFTS and was involved with the training and development of screenwriters and their projects from all over the world.

Sheena joined the Kindle team in 2011.

Jacqueline McGee

PA / Development Researcher

Jacqueline’s early TV years include dressing up as a Womble for a publicity stunt. She then became a coordinator, before working as a Production Manager for programmes by the Discovery Channel’s UK and US branches.

Jacqueline recently spent four and a half years working in Prague for a film service company, schmoozing with the likes of Bruce Willis & Colin Farrell on press junkets.

Jacqueline is currently Personal Assistant to Anne and Melanie and participates in development.

Emily Iredale

Development Assistant

Emily wrote a play, produced a short film and was involved in various drama productions while at Oxford University, where she graduated with a degree in English in 2013. Since then she has interned for Scott Free Productions and worked as a development assistant for Spun Gold TV.

She is delighted to be back at Kindle Entertainment working to expand their development slate.
