Anne Brogan


Anne founded Kindle Entertainment with Melanie Stokes in 2007. Previously, Anne worked at Thames TV and BBC Education, Executive Producer on television ranging from Teletubbies to Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman. As Controller of Granada Kids in 2004, Anne led a thriving production department, with credits including over 100 episodes of the multi-award winning My Parents Are Aliens.

Anne lives in London with her family and a number of mice, but she is hoping they (the mice) will move out soon.

Melanie Stokes


Melanie’s first job in TV was as a researcher for Thames TV but since then she has nearly always worked in the indy sector, producing and directing a diverse portfolio of award-winning children’s drama, comedy and factual series for ITV and Channel 4. Bill’s New Frock adapted by Andrew Davies won the RTS and Broadcast Awards for Best Children’s Drama in 1998.

Melanie briefly returned to ITV where she worked with Anne as the head of development for Granada Kids. Here, she oversaw a number of successful commissions but when the opportunity arose to set up Kindle Entertainment with Anne and get back to the indy sector, Melanie seized it. Their partnership is founded on a shared passion for producing stories that stand out from the crowd and make you want to go back for more.

Valerie Ames

Director of Production

With more years experience in the television industry than she cares to remember, Val Ames has covered children’s, animation, sport, factual, entertainment and drama for both indies and broadcasters alike.

She has also been Head of Production at Mentorn Films and Head of Production for Children’s and International at Carlton TV.

Bridget Goodman

Production Executive

Bridget started in TV working as a Producer’s Assistant in BBC Drama on programmes such as The Singing Detective and Fortunes of War. Following the Assistant Director/Production Management career path on a raft of Drama Series, Single films and Serials, she left the BBC as a Line Producer/Producer in 1999.

Her freelance work has covered work both for the Independent Sector and the BBC ranging from children’s drama/comedy, The Basil Brush Show to large continuing dramas including Family Affairs, EastEnders and The Bill. She worked for BBC Scotland as a Production Executive covering their Drama slate before joining Kindle in 2014.

Colin Dungey

Head of Finance

Colin cut his teeth in the industry spending 16 years with Tiger Aspect Productions as Group Financial Controller. Moving on, he then spent time with Leopard Films and Argonon before joining us here at Kindle in 2014 as our Head of Finance.

Maureen Walker

Business Affairs Consultant

Maureen has worked in production business affairs for over 25 years. She began in business affairs roles before becoming Head of Artists and Music Management at ITV. She met Anne through her involvement in the ITV children’s department. Maureen also does consultancy work with indies, and has provided business affairs support to Kindle since 2009.

She is a member of the Royal Television Society North committee and a board member of The Television Workshop.

Pia Ashberry

Head of Development

Pia started her career as one half of comedy double act Raging Hormones. While she might never scale such dizzying heights again, she did go on to work for the Royal Court Theatre, where she read a lot of plays and even wrote one herself. She has since worked as a script editor, development executive, and writer for the BBC, Carlton, LWT, Talkback Thames, and Parallel Films.

Pia joined Kindle Entertainment as a script-editor and worked on all 4 series of My Spy Family; since running the development slate, she developed the pilot script for Hank Zipzer, developed and script-edited the single film Some Dogs Bite and wrote its interactive online dramas; and created the award-winning action adventure show, Leonardo.

Annie Harrison-Baxter

Drama Development

Annie worked extensively in theatre, film and television production before being given the opportunity to produce the first series of the BAFTA-winning drama Clocking Off.

Annie went on to work as an originating producer on a range of popular, multi-award winning drama series for both BBC & ITV such as The Cops, Bob & Rose, The Second Coming, Conviction, Wild at Heart, and more recently The Secret of Crickley Hall and the 2014 BAFTA-winning In The Flesh.

In addition to her producing career, Annie has worked as an Executive Producer for Shed Productions and BBC in-house Drama. She has also been a Commissioning Editor at Sky, where she first met Anne and Mel when collaborating on Kindle’s production of Treasure Island.

Sheena Bucktowonsing

Head of Development - Kids

Sheena graduated with a degree in English Literature from Cardiff University in 2007. She worked in press and media relations for the Barbican Theatre before joining Soho Theatre’s Writers’ Centre. Two years later Sheena joined the Script Factory, an international training and development organisation for filmmakers and screenwriters. While at the Script Factory she gained a diploma in Script Development from the NFTS and was involved with the training and development of screenwriters and their projects from all over the world.

Sheena joined the Kindle team in 2011.

Charlotte Biermann

Development Editor

After going to drama school, Charlotte went behind the scenes to work at the BBC on several shows and assisted Stephen Poliakoff and JohnYorke. She then took up positions at PFD and Independent Talent agencies.

Having gained a diploma in Script Development at the NFTS, Charlotte became an experienced script reader and developer for a wide range of productions companies, broadcasters and screen agencies and worked as a book scout for Daybreak Pictures.

Following on from working on the development of a second series of The Smoke, she was the assistant script editor on Paul Abbott’s No Offence. 

Charlotte now works across Kindle’s primetime adult drama slate.

Jacqueline McGee

PA / Development Researcher

Jacqueline’s early TV years include dressing up as a Womble for a publicity stunt. She then became a coordinator, before working as a Production Manager for programmes by the Discovery Channel’s UK and US branches.

Jacqueline recently spent four and a half years working in Prague for a film service company, schmoozing with the likes of Bruce Willis & Colin Farrell on press junkets.

Jacqueline is currently Personal Assistant to Anne and Melanie and participates in development.

David Persiva

Development Assistant

Since graduating from the University of Winchester in 2008, david has worked in the theatre & film industry in London and abroad in production, both as an actor and musician. Work to date ranges from performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe & The National Theatre of Malta to working in the editing department for a BBC Feature and co-producing an independent feature in which he also appeared.

David joined Kindle in April 2015 as Development Assistant and continues to pursue independent projects in film, theatre and music.

Zina Wegrzynski

Trainee Script Editor

Zina graduated from the University of Manchester before starting her career in television with MAMA Youth Project, working as part of the production team on an entertainment show for Sky. She then moved to Hat Trick where she worked as an assistant to the development teams on shows in a variety of genres including factual, entertainment, and her true love – drama. After a stint working on shows including ‘Critical’ as well as reading for both Hat Trick and Kudos, she expanded her production experience by becoming the Production Coordinator for Save the Children UK helping to set up shoots all over the world as well as assisting in emergency response campaigns.

She joined Kindle as a Trainee Script Editor on the live action comedy drama ‘Jamillah & Aladdin’ for CBBC/CBeebies due to air in 2016.
